Christy’s practice focuses primarily on financial services litigation and regulatory compliance. She defends mortgage investors, including Government Sponsored Enterprises, and servicers in a variety of matters, including TILA, RESPA, RICO and FCRA disputes, predatory lending claims, mortgage-related fees and servicing issues, escrow account disputes, unfair and deceptive trade practices claims, and wrongful foreclosure claims. She has also defended multiple class action cases, breach of contract actions, fraud and bad faith actions, and handled complex title insurance coverage disputes.

Christy currently oversees more than 600 financial services litigation matters throughout the country, working with a team of over 20 attorneys. These suits range from individual consumer claims to class action and commercial disputes.

She also routinely conducts audits for her financial services clients as part of their third-party management processes, including detailed reviews of their foreclosure and collection firms.

Christy has represented clients in the mortgage and insurance industries in trial and appellate courts and in regulatory matters in over 20 states from Florida to Arizona. Her mortgage cases involve numerous causes of action including mortgage related fees and services, claims under the FCRA, TILA, RESPA, RICO, and predatory lending laws. Furthermore, Christy has litigated numerous facets of the mortgage industry from loan origination, pooling and servicing agreements, title insurance, loan repurchase disputes, REO-related disputes, and mortgage fraud.

Her regulatory compliance work includes assisting numerous clients with the Consent Orders issued by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Reserve Board (FRB). This representation includes developing, drafting, and implementing third-party vendor management policies and procedures, providing legal support to the independent consultants under the Foreclosure Review section of the Consent Orders, and improving and expanding clients’ policies and procedures related to document execution and notary practices. Christy has assisted her financial services clients with revisions to their internal quality control processes as well as drafting/updating mortgage servicing policies and procedures. She has provided onsite training to clients on crucial issues such as document execution, notary procedures, and quality control.

Christy also routinely responds to state Attorney General inquiries and state banking department inquiries on behalf of her clients.

Her prior insurance litigation experience includes complex litigation, including class action, for life, health, and disability insurers, including agent lawsuits, coverage issues, bad faith, and fraud suits. Her insurance practice often includes ERISA coverage disputes in Federal court. Christy has also represented insurance companies in matters before the Alabama Department of Insurance.

Christy is licensed in seven (7) states: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

She belongs to the TIPS and Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association.

Christy regularly teaches seminars and classes related to the mortgage industry and has conducted in-house CLE programs for clients. In addition to her practice, Christy serves on the firm's Board of Governors and is also the Charlotte office’s recruiting partner. She enjoys living in Plaza Midwood with her husband and young daughter.
