Emily Ruzic advises leading natural gas pipeline companies and other infrastructure clients on issues involving location, land acquisition, construction, and operations. Currently, she is advising on several large-scale pipeline projects in the Southeast, including serving as the lead outside lawyer on land strategy on a significant project for one of the country’s largest energy companies. Emily also regularly litigates issues related to land rights and operations on behalf of natural gas transmission companies, including survey access, eminent domain/condemnation, and encroachment litigation.

Emily advises clients on complex insurance coverage disputes. She assists clients from the earliest stages of the claim and works with them toward efficient resolution, recognizing that creative solutions may provide the most value to the client. When litigation arises, Emily leverages her litigation experience to help clients succeed in court. Emily has particular experience with construction and hospitality insurance disputes, regularly advising on or litigating coverage matters involving builders’ risk, business interruption, cybersecurity, property damage and liability policies.

Emily also handles complex business litigation matters, including non-compete and breach-of-contract cases; trade secret, trademark, and copyright infringement litigation.

Emily is active in a number of legal industry and community organizations. She has served in several leadership roles for the Defense Research Institute, including being appointed as chair of its Young Lawyers Committee. As a testament to her commitment to the community, Emily was named the 2022 recipient of Bradley’s Cameron J. Miller Award for Excellence and Community Service, which is awarded annually to an associate who exemplifies the excellence of Cameron Miller, who died in June 2012 after battling cancer in his first year as an attorney at the firm.
