Anti-corruption enforcement is becoming increasingly global. In particular US officials have become more proactive in combating corruption of Government officials abroad by vigorously enforcing the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA"). The UK Bribery Bill when enacted will strengthen the UK anti-corruption regime and will give UK officials equal, and in some instances, greater powers than the FCPA to combat corruption. The FCPA and the UK Bribery Bill criminalize certain acts of overseas bribery anywhere in the world if carried out by US and UK companies. Despite these risks to companies, company directors, and company individuals, many US and UK companies have not put in place procedures to manage these risks. The seminar will focus on how your company may be exposed to the anti-corruption regime and how such risks can be managed including discussion of:
