We also have been active in various economic development initiatives, including assisting Japanese automobile manufacturing companies and many ancillary Japanese businesses that have located facilities in Tennessee and Alabama. This assistance includes land purchases, bond financing, PILOT agreements, environmental, labor and employment, and other general legal services. Our lawyers have participated with the Governors of Alabama and Tennessee and state Economic Development Authorieis in visits to China, Japan, Singapore, Korea and Hong Kong to recruit international investment.
To complement and enhance our experience in this area, the firm is a member of two global networks. We belong to the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE), the only not-for-profit association for the foreign real estate investment community. AFIRE members have a common interest in preserving and promoting international real estate investments.
