Jon is a bluegrass music fan and a particular enthusiast of the flatpicking guitar style of Doc Watson.

Before attending law school, Jon taught high school algebra, physics, chemistry and Spanish. He also has called hundreds of football and basketball games as a radio play-by-play sports announcer, including the Kentucky high school state championship game in both sports.

Jon is an FCC-licensed amateur radio operator (W1WD).
