Joe Mays' practice is concentrated on business litigation, especially antitrust, securities and shareholder litigation, government procurement fraud litigation, professional liability, and white collar criminal defense. Joe has tried more than a dozen cases to jury verdict in the last decade and has also been involved in numerous arbitration proceedings. He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the field of business litigation.

Joe has extensive experience in representing major accounting firms. His cases in that area have extended to both tax and audit issues as well as claims involving alleged securities fraud. Joe has been involved in the trial of at least four accounting malpractice cases.

Joe served as Chancellor of the Episcopal Church Diocese of Alabama, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Downtown YMCA, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alabama Arthritis Foundation, and Chairman of the Alabama Educational Television Foundation Board.

In 1997, Joe received the Walter P. Gewin Award from the Alabama State Bar for his contributions to Continuing Legal Education.
