Paul Compton has broad experience in innovative commercial financing transactions, particularly those involving tax credits (federal and state LIHTC, historic, state industrial incentive, new markets, work opportunity and CAPCO) and structured finance, and in the formation and sale of regulated financial institutions (banks, insurance companies and agencies, consumer finance companies, broker/dealers and community development entities).
Paul has a strong understanding of operational and financial aspects of the banking and insurance businesses and extensive experience with their regulators. He has been involved in hundreds of transactions, including:
- Over 50 acquisitions and sales of depository institutions;
- Over 200 transactions involving low income housing tax credits (federal, Georgia and North Carolina) for equity investors, lenders, credit support providers and developers, including more than 40 involving private activity bond financed developments; and
- Over fifteen de novo formations of banks, bank holding companies and insurance companies.
