Phil Carroll is a member of the firm's Litigation and Appellate Practice Groups. His practice involves the representation of businesses in a broad range of trial and appellate litigation in state and federal courts.

Phil Carroll is a member of the firm's Litigation and Appellate Practice Groups. His practice involves the representation of businesses in a broad range of trial and appellate litigation in state and federal courts.

Phil's recent trial and appellate experience has included a two week trial in which he and his co-counsel obtained a $5.6 million jury verdict in a contract dispute and the defense of an employer in a retaliatory discharge action through trial and a successful appeal. He also participated in a successful oral argument before the Alabama Supreme Court on a petition for a writ of mandamus seeking the transfer of two wrongful death actions to a different venue. He has represented businesses and individuals in a wide variety of matters in state and federal court, both in Alabama and elsewhere. He was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America -- Personal Injury Litigation.

Experience

Phil handles cases and arbitrations throughout Alabama and in other states. He has represented a variety of product manufacturers, chemical manufacturers, coal mining companies, insurance companies, a natural gas utility and individuals.

Phil has been married to his wife Karen for more than 23 years and they have a son, Phil, and a daughter, Grace. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf and following LSU football. For several years Phil served as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Alabama School of Law, where he taught Appellate Advocacy. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Downtown Birmingham YMCA, and he recently led the branch’s Strong Kids and Communities Campaign.
