Rod Kanter is a member of the firm's Public Finance Practice Group and the Emerging Growth Company Team. His primary practice includes serving as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, and counsel to issuers of letters of credit in all types of tax-exempt and taxable debt financings. His representation of clients include the State of Alabama, various health care authorities, cities and counties, colleges and universities, industrial development boards, commercial development authorities, airport authorities, water and sewer systems, and various other types of public entities in the State of Alabama.

In addition to his core public finance practice, Rod represents cities and counties throughout the State in economic development projects. In connection with this work, Rod negotiates on behalf of public entities in structuring and negotiating the terms of tax-sharing and other incentive arrangements.

Rod has been an active participant and lecturer in numerous seminars and programs in public finance, including for the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL). Rod serves as Vice-Chair of the Municipal Securities Committee of NABL, and is a faculty member for NABL’s Fundamentals of Municipal Bonds seminar.
