Monica Dozier is a partner in Bradley’s Construction and Procurement Practice Group. Monica represents contractors, subcontractors, developers, and engineers in public and private construction projects, focusing on risk mitigation and dispute avoidance throughout the construction process.
Monica regularly drafts and negotiates construction project agreements, advising clients on risk allocation and strategic options available to maximize the client’s best interests. She has experience negotiating engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, subcontract agreements, and supply agreements, all within a variety of structures (including lump sum, unit price, guaranteed maximum price, shared savings/contingency, and integrated project delivery agreements).
During the construction process, Monica advises clients on a project management decisions and managing claim procedures with the goal of avoiding litigation. Monica regularly conducts client-focused seminars on project sites to project management teams, using the client’s project contracts to lead discussions on project-specific risks and mitigation measures.
Monica believes that no client’s core business is litigation, and understands the practical business of construction. She strives to provide legal advice as a business partner with her clients in order to reach optimal solutions for all parties and to preserve a project’s profitability. Where a business solution is not available, Monica also serves as counsel to clients in dispute resolution, including in mediation, arbitration, and/or litigation.
Monica’s background in construction began with her family’s commercial construction company based in Central Florida. Monica is committed to the construction industry, and serves as member and past chair of the Excellence in Construction Committee with Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas. She also serves on the board of the Charlotte Gator Club.
